team building 101 - team building games are important

team building games are important

Team development days can be stressful for some people, so the team building games that you choose should be ones that everyone can take part in, without being super athletic, or smart. This can make the choice very difficult of course, but it is worth spending some time on this. Set the wrong expectations for your team development planning days, and you may find that the event doesn’t go according to plan, and people are less than enthusiastic to attend.

So what kind of games do well for team building? Well, to begin with you really should have something that is fun to participate in. Just because you have set aside some time for team building and team development, doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy the activities while you are there. One such game may bring back memories from days gone by – the scavenger hunt. This is a great team building game, and it can be adjusted to meet the needs of any company. It can be held anywhere, can take half an hour or a complete day if you choose, and everyone can take part.

Now because it is a team game, you will need to make sure that the whole team stays together during the activity. Because we are not dealing with children for this hunt, your team members may have ideas about splitting up to complete the tasks faster. If this is not what you are wanting from the game, then set up the rule that each team must stay together as a group at all times, and arrange that they have to take photographs at certain stages of the whole team together – how great are digital cameras for this type of activity!

Now what you have to search for is again up to you. You may have a theme, or you may use the scavenger hunt to get to know an area of the city better, or to discover new businesses. There are plenty of very different options, and while tracking down different items, each team can get to know the other team members a little better in a more relaxed, fun setting. And remember that it doesn’t cost you much to organize a scavenger hunt either, which is a huge bonus these days.
